The Fall of Atlantis is a full-length opera inspired by the legend of the lost continent of Atlantis. It tells the story of Loelia, a young priestess of Poseidon. She fights to preserve Atlantis’ utopian values against Prince Mestor, who schemes to establish a military dictatorship while the continent is shattered by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and foreign invasion. Loelia is aided in her struggle by her father, Pelagos, high priest of the ruling council; by Lycos, a captain of the guard; and by Adriel, a psychic seer. Crisis ensues when the Oracle Lythia, spiritual leader of Atlantis who is secretly in love with Prince Mestor, orders Loelia to be sacrificed by Pelagos to propitiate Poseidon.
